Your priorities, understood

For people who care about what goes into their smile

If you value a holistic approach to wellness, choosing dental materials can feel personal. We start by listening: your preference for a metal-free option, your smile goals, your medical history and the routines that matter to you.

At OG Center, a whole-person perspective means thoughtful planning, clear explanations and care that fits your life.

A ceramic alternative to metal

Zirconia is a strong, white oxide ceramic. The Neodent Zi implant body contains no titanium, making it an option for patients who prefer a non-metal root replacement.

A naturally light foundation

The tooth-like color of zirconia offers an aesthetic advantage when planning the area around your smile. Your crown is designed to complement the shape and shade of neighboring teeth.

Biocompatibility, thoughtfully chosen

Zirconia is used in implant dentistry for its compatibility with oral tissues and its ability to integrate with bone. Your health, bone and gum condition still guide the choice.

Comfort in everyday moments

A fixed implant-supported tooth can help restore chewing and appearance without using neighboring teeth as bridge supports. The goal is a smile that works comfortably in daily life.

Wellness starts with an informed choice

Your values matter, and so do the details. We review the implant, connection and crown with you and explain suitability, expected benefits and ongoing care. Your decision can reflect both your personal priorities and a sound clinical plan.

Understand your new tooth

More than a white crown: a ceramic root

A zirconia implant replaces the missing root inside your jaw. A connector, called an abutment, supports the crown you see when you smile.

  • Implant: the ceramic foundation placed in bone.
  • Abutment: the connection between implant and crown.
  • Crown: the visible tooth, shaped for your smile and bite.

A zirconia crown on a titanium implant is a different treatment. If a fully metal-free restoration is your priority, we review every proposed component with you.

Neodent Zi: designed as a two-piece system

Neodent, a Straumann Group brand, offers Zi with a separate ceramic implant and restorative connection. This allows the clinician to plan the replacement tooth around its position and your bite.

This page focuses on individual tooth restorations. For a full arch, we assess the appropriate system separately.

Personalized from the start

Is a ceramic implant right for your smile?

It may be worth exploring if you need a tooth replaced, prefer ceramic materials and want a natural-looking result. We review your bone, gums, bite, medications, health conditions and any history of reactions to materials.

Gum disease, smoking, teeth grinding or limited bone may change the plan or require additional care. Bring existing dental studies and your questions; we will discuss your options clearly.

Digital planning. A coordinated team.

At our clinic in Curridabat, San José, Sirona CBCT imaging, Primescan scanning and Exocad design support planning as appropriate for your case. Our in-house laboratory helps coordinate the shape, fit and appearance of the crown.

Know what to expect

Your path to a ceramic smile

A clear plan makes treatment easier to understand. Each stage has a purpose, and your healing guides the pace.

  1. 1. Listen & assess

We discuss your goals, examine your mouth and review the imaging needed to assess the site.

  2. 2. Plan together

You receive the proposed materials, costs, appointments and any preparatory treatment.

  3. 3. Place the implant

The ceramic root is placed surgically with anesthesia planned for your procedure. You receive recovery instructions.

  4. 4. Heal & restore

We monitor integration with bone, then fit your final crown when the site is ready.

  5. 5. Keep it healthy

Daily cleaning and scheduled checkups help protect your implant and surrounding gums.

Healing commonly takes several months. A temporary tooth or immediate restoration may be possible in selected cases; neither is automatic. Your written plan explains the expected timeline and any return visits.

An investment planned around you

Your ceramic implant estimate depends on the tooth, bone condition, selected components and crown. We explain the diagnostic, surgical and restorative costs, plus any additional procedures and follow-up.

Questions about metal-free implants

Is zirconia really a non-metal material?

Dental zirconia is zirconium dioxide, an oxide ceramic with properties different from metallic zirconium. The implant body is ceramic. We confirm the abutment, fixation components and crown in your proposed restoration before calling the complete treatment metal-free.

How does this fit a holistic wellness approach?

It gives you a material option that may align with your preferences. Our approach considers your overall health, oral condition, comfort and ongoing care. Ceramic implants are a tooth-replacement treatment, not a detox or a treatment for illnesses elsewhere in the body.

Is zirconia better than titanium?

Both can be suitable implant materials. Zirconia offers a white ceramic alternative; titanium has a longer and broader clinical evidence base. Evidence varies by zirconia design, with more limited long-term data for two-piece systems. The best choice depends on your case and priorities.

Can I choose ceramic if I have a metal sensitivity?

Tell us about any diagnosed allergy or previous reaction. We review the history and proposed materials, and determine whether further evaluation is needed. No implant can be promised to be allergy-free or suitable for everyone.

Will the procedure hurt, and what is recovery like?

Anesthesia is used for implant placement. Some soreness and swelling can occur afterward, and the team provides an individual pain-management and care plan. Healing, the need for grafting and the timing of the crown vary from person to person.

Do ceramic implants prevent gum disease or last forever?

No material eliminates complications. Infection, peri-implant disease, failure to integrate, fracture or restoration problems can occur. Ceramic implants still need daily hygiene and professional follow-up; outcomes and lifespan cannot be guaranteed.

Does a zirconia All-on-4 mean the implants are ceramic?

Not necessarily. A zirconia full-arch bridge can be supported by titanium implants. This page describes Neodent Zi individual tooth restorations. Our All-on-4 and All-on-6 plans specify implant and restoration materials separately.
