What are dental veneers?
Veneers are thin restorations that mainly cover the front surfaces of teeth. They may improve appearance in selected cases involving discoloration, small fractures or shape concerns. A veneer differs from a crown, which covers more tooth structure.
Placement may require enamel removal, an irreversible change. Teeth, gums and bite need assessment, and any problems requiring care should be addressed before treatment.
Porcelain, composite and alternatives
Porcelain or ceramic veneers
These are custom-made from dental records and require checks of fit and appearance before bonding.
Composite veneers
These use tooth-colored resin. Repairs may be easier, while resistance to staining and wear differs from porcelain. Material choice depends on the case and expected maintenance.
Other ways to improve your smile
If color is your priority, ask about whitening. For tooth position, explore clear aligners. Digital smile design helps organize these decisions; it does not automatically mean placing veneers.

OG Center has an in-house dental laboratory. Ask which trials are included in your plan. A simulation or mock-up can help communicate goals but does not guarantee an identical final result.
Care and longer-term decisions
Veneers can chip, wear or loosen and may need repair or replacement. Avoid using your teeth to open objects and maintain careful cleaning. The tooth around a restoration still needs protection against decay.
Tell the team if you clench or grind your teeth. Your bite and habits can affect suitability and aftercare. Arrange a review if you develop persistent pain or your bite feels different.
Questions about the price
The estimate should specify the teeth, material, design, trials, any temporary restorations and reviews. Ask about preliminary procedures and repair or replacement terms. Do not assume every item is included.
Bring references for looks you like, but explain what you want to preserve about your own smile too. The proposal should respond to your mouth and priorities, rather than a fixed veneer package.
Frequently asked questions
Are veneers always no-preparation?
No. The amount of preparation depends on the case. Ask what tissue would be changed and what that means before agreeing.
Can veneers correct any crooked teeth?
They do not automatically replace orthodontics. Assessment must distinguish a change in appearance from correction of tooth position and bite.
Do all veneers look very white?
Shade is discussed with shape and proportion during planning. You can explain your preference for a subtle appearance.
What if a tooth is badly damaged?
Another restoration may be needed. Learn about dental crowns and ask which option best preserves and protects the available structure.
