Teeth whitening in Costa Rica
A brighter smile while keeping your natural tooth shape
Professional whitening can lighten the shade of natural teeth. We first assess the cause of discoloration and your oral health to choose an appropriate approach and realistic expectations.

An option when you want to brighten teeth while retaining their shape.
Your dentist selects the approach and helps manage sensitivity.
Advice helps you maintain the shade and discuss touch-ups when needed.
How does whitening work?
Whitening agents lighten the color of natural teeth. Whitening is different from a cleaning, which removes deposits and surface stains, and from placing a restoration to change tooth shape.
The response depends on the cause of discoloration and each tooth’s characteristics. A particular shade change or identical result cannot be guaranteed for everyone.
What is checked before treatment?
Your assessment considers tooth and gum health, sensitivity and visible restorations. Crowns, veneers and composite fillings do not whiten like natural teeth, so their shade needs to be considered when planning.
Professional whitening at OG Center
Our treatment catalog includes whitening with Biolase technology. At your consultation, we confirm the proposed protocol, stages and suitability. An equipment brand does not replace diagnosis or guarantee a specific response.
Dentist-supervised home whitening protocols also exist. Ask which approach is proposed, what products it uses and how progress will be reviewed. Do not combine systems on your own.
The stages of your plan
- Assessment: examining oral health and the reason for the color change.
- Goals: discussing your starting shade, restorations and treatment limits.
- Preparation: addressing problems that need care first and explaining the protocol.
- Application: using the selected system with appropriate tissue protection.
- Review: assessing the response, sensitivity and aftercare.
If you have an important event, mention it at your first appointment. Confirm the schedule before assuming everything can be completed in one visit. If you also want to change shape or alignment, explore digital smile design.
Sensitivity and maintenance
Tooth sensitivity or gum irritation can occur. Contact your dental professional for advice if symptoms concern you. Do not extend product exposure or increase frequency to speed up the result.
Whitening is not permanent. Habits and oral hygiene affect maintenance, and touch-ups should be assessed individually. Follow your prescribed protocol instead of combining gels, strips or home remedies.
Tell the team about pregnancy, breastfeeding, previous treatment and sensitivity before scheduling. A color change affecting just one tooth needs its own assessment.
Compare the complete protocol
Request a proposal that lists the evaluation, planned applications, any home-use materials and review visits. Confirm separate charges and how concerns about sensitivity or later touch-ups would be handled.
A price per session does not necessarily describe the complete plan you need. At your evaluation, ask what change is realistic and what alternatives make sense if whitening does not address your goal.
Frequently asked questions
Will it whiten crowns or veneers?
No. Restorations retain their own shade. Visible restorations should be included in the cosmetic plan.
Does it replace a dental cleaning?
No. They serve different purposes. Your examination determines which care is needed and in what order.
Do I need veneers for whiter teeth?
Not necessarily. Veneers are restorations with different indications and commitments. Compare alternatives before changing healthy tooth structure.
